He takes predator watch seriously and keeps the hens moving with a confidence you can't teach. The Beard backs him up on perimeter patrol.
More than a mascot
A good rooster is part of a healthy free-range system. Joseph helps organize the flock and sounds off when something's wrong, which is why guests remember him long after they leave with a dozen eggs.
